Terms of Service
Last updated October 17, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Trivet Labs, which runs Wakabuddy. They cover the Wakabuddy app, website and trip share pages. By creating an account or using Wakabuddy you agree to them, so please read them along with our Privacy Policy. Questions? Write to hello@wakabuddy.com.
1. What Wakabuddy is
Wakabuddy helps you plan trips on your own or with a group: route and stops, checklist, notes, emergency contacts, photos and, for groups, shared costs and settling up. Wakabuddy is a planning and record-keeping tool. We do not book travel, sell tickets or act as a travel agent.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13, or the age of digital consent where you live, to use Wakabuddy. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You must be allowed to use the service under the laws that apply to you.
3. Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. One account is for one person.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at hello@wakabuddy.com straight away if you think someone else has used it.
4. Trips, crews and sharing
- The person who creates a trip is its organizer. Organizers can invite and remove members, change trip settings, hand the organizer role to someone else and delete the trip.
- Anyone with a trip's invite code can ask to join it, so only share codes with people you want in the trip.
- Organizers can create share links. Anyone with the link, and the access code if one is set, can see the sections the organizer chose to show. Think before you share personal details, and respect other members' wishes about what is shared.
5. Money features
Wakabuddy keeps a record of what a group plans to spend, what each person paid and who owes whom. It does not hold, send or receive money and it is not a bank, wallet or payment service. Payments happen outside Wakabuddy, directly between members, and Trivet Labs is not a party to them.
Balances, exchange rates and conversions are worked out from what members enter and are estimates. Check amounts before you pay anyone. We are not responsible for disagreements between members about money.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you add to Wakabuddy: trips, notes, photos, receipts and everything else. You give Trivet Labs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process and display that content only as needed to run, secure and improve the service, including showing it to the people you share it with. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies other members are entitled to keep, such as shared money records.
You must have the right to everything you upload, including permission from people who appear in your photos where the law requires it.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use Wakabuddy to:
- Break the law, or help anyone else break it.
- Harass, threaten, impersonate or harm anyone.
- Share other people's private information without their permission.
- Upload content that is illegal, sexually explicit, hateful or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Send spam, including through invite codes, visitor notes or follow emails.
- Probe, scrape, overload or disrupt the service, get around rate limits or security, or access accounts and trips that are not yours.
- Copy, resell or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.
We may remove content or limit accounts that break these rules.
8. AI trip drafts
"Plan with AI" uses third-party AI models to draft a route and plan from what you type. Drafts can be wrong or out of date. Check important details yourself, especially visas, entry rules, safety advice, opening hours, prices and distances, before you rely on them. Drafts are suggestions, not professional travel, legal or safety advice.
9. Maps, locations and safety
Maps, road distances and travel times come from third-party services and are approximate. Check-ins and emergency contacts are conveniences, not an emergency service: Wakabuddy does not alert authorities or guarantee that messages arrive. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.
10. Third-party services
Wakabuddy relies on services run by others, such as app stores, push notification services, map tiles and AI providers. Their own terms may apply, and we are not responsible for how they work.
11. Price and changes to the service
Wakabuddy is free while we test it with real trips. If we introduce paid features we will tell you the price first, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it. We may add, change or remove features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using Wakabuddy at any time and ask us to delete your account at https://wakabuddy-web.vercel.app/delete-account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to save your data first.
13. Disclaimers
Wakabuddy is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, or that data entered by other members is accurate. Keep your own copies of anything important.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Trivet Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, missed travel or disputes between members. Our total liability to you for any claim about Wakabuddy is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50,000 Nigerian naira (₦50,000). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
15. Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law while using Wakabuddy, and that leads to a claim against Trivet Labs, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring claims in your local courts.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.
